MPOA President Walker’s Newsletter – August 2020

Greetings owners! I wanted to bring you up to date on a few matters. First the Massanutten Police Department will be officially closing on November 2, 2020. Signage will be removed from the “police” building and the Sheriff’s Office will assume the law enforcement role. I have full confidence in the Sheriff’s ability to provide law enforcement protection to Massanutten. The Board will be discussing supplementing the law enforcement provided by the Sheriff with private security at the board meeting in September. Second, the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the creation of a water and sewer authority at the Board meeting on August 12, 2020. Currently they are evaluating firms to help determine the value of the system. When we receive more information on this process, we will pass it on to owners. Third, it looks like we will have lifeguards available to be able to keep the pool open through Labor Day weekend.

MPOA and Great Eastern have our first mediation meeting in September and we hope to have information on our discussions at the September Board meeting.

The September Board meeting will be held via Zoom and for the foreseeable future. We will look forward to the day we can welcome everyone back in the meeting room.

A final note, if you are an owner renting your house on a short-term basis, we encourage you to discuss with your rental agent noise and respectful behavior. These are residential neighborhoods and guests and owners should be able to enjoy quiet and peaceful surroundings.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the summer and stay well.
